Change Default Search Options (Windows XP)

These settings allow you to change the default search options used to search for files and folders on Windows XP.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Modify the following values, setting them to "1" to select the parameter as a default or "0" as unselected.

  • CaseSensitive - Case sensitive
  • IncludeSubFolders - Search subfolders
  • SearchHidden - Search hidden files and folders
  • SearchSlowFiles - Search tape backup
  • SearchSystemDirs - Search system folders
You may need to log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value: (0 = unselected, 1 = selected)
